Hi5D5

Hi5D5 is a passionate group of concerned citizens living and working in San Francisco's District 5 who believe that all who reside in our neighborhood, and all of San Francisco, have the right to live in thriving, clean and safe corridors. With this in mind, we strive to implement positive solutions to address the most pressing issues in our community. Our members live across the Tenderloin, Alamo Square, Japantown, Western Addition, Haight Ashbury, and Hayes Valley.

Some of the actions we support to solve our community’s most critical concerns:

  • Prohibit Sidewalk Camping & Tents

We adamantly believe that San Francisco can do better than allowing vulnerable unwell people to suffer in substandard conditions on our streets and sidewalks. Allowing people to sleep on the streets is completely unacceptable for our communities and dangerous for those who are left to endure it. We believe all citizens have a right to an accessible sidewalk.

  • Work With SFPD to Prevent Crime

Smash-and-grabs, graffiti, shoplifting, and even gun violence, have plagued our community. We support a cooperative approach with the police to stop crime before it happens, as well as law enforcement's efforts to address open drug use and dealing.

  • Support Our Merchants

The COVID-19 pandemic and dangerous conditions on our streets have caused irreparable economic devastation to our local merchants. We must come together as a community and support one another, while advocating for a cooperative approach with the police to prevent crime before it happens.

  • End Open Air Drug Use & Dealing

With competent and capable leadership, we can put an end to the dangerous presence of drugs in our city, build vibrant communities, and create an equitable future for all of our residents. While Hi5D5 advocates programs to fight drug addiction and provide mental health services for those in need, we do not endorse programs that incentivize public drug use or trafficking.

  • Elect Strong & Effective Leaders

We demand that our leaders respond to neighborhood concerns and those of our merchants. We call for leaders willing to stand up to the special interests driving the city in the wrong direction. We appeal for greater government transparency and accountability with our tax dollars.

  • Improve Mental Health Services

We support city efforts to provide solutions for those suffering from mental illness and mental health crises on the street. We believe that San Franciscans deserve better access to treatment and tools.
